Llandrindod Twinning Association has shared profits from its annual fundraising sale at Pritchard’s Saleroom with Llandrindod Wells Scout Group. The Twinning Association organises an annual sale in order to raise money to host visitors from the twin towns of Contrexeville, France and Bad Rappenau, Germany and this year decided to share the sale with the local scouts. It is hoped that the scouts will be able to visit Germany or France in 2013 in a Twinning Exchange.
There was great support from people in Llandrindod and surrounding area who gave an excellent selection of items that raised £1,200. Monica O’Dea, Leader of Llandrindod Wells Scout Group, was pleased to accept a £600 cheque from Deryn Gambles who had been responsible for all the hard work organising and running the sale. Monica thanked everyone who had given so generously and particularly Deryn who had donated so much of her time to make the event such a success.
The funds raised helped the Twinning Association to cover expenses organising a July visit to Mid Wales for a party of 30 pupils from the High School in Bad Rappenau and an August visit for groups from Llandrindod’s twin towns of Bad Rappenau, Germany and Contrexéville, France during the Victorian Festival. In the summer the Twinning Association also helped Mid Powys Youth Choir organise a visit to Germany.
The Twinning Association’s next fundraising event is a Skittles and Chips Evening at the Royal British Legion Club in Llandrindod on Friday 21 October at 7.30pm. Tickets at £7, inclusive of a fish and chip supper, will be available at the door or from the Twinning Secretary telephone 01597 851931.
