Members of Llandrindod Wells Twinning Association recently celebrated their Annual Dinner at the Hotel Commodore. Jeff Thomas, Chairman of the Twinning Association, spoke about the successful visits organised in 2012 and looked forward to a busy year in 2013 when three different groups visit Llandrindod from the twin towns of Bad Rappenau, Germany and Contrexéville, France. It is also planned for a large group of people from Llandrindod Wells will visit Bad Rappenau to celebrate Eurofest 2013 in June.

In May 2013 a party from Bad Rappenau will visit Llandrindod Wells, including pupils from the Hoschschule, Bad Rappenau, Members of Bad Rappenau Council and other adults. In July visits are also being planned by youth groups from both Contrexéville and Bad Rappenau when they hope to meet local youth groups. Over the weekend of 8-9 June 2013 Bad Rappenau is hosting Eurofest 2013 when choirs, bands and performers from nine European countries will be taking part. A group from Llandrindod is travelling by coach leaving on Wednesday 5 June and returning on Tuesday 11 June 2013.

Jeff pointed out that the Association is welcoming residents in Llandrindod Wells and area to join the coach trip and take part in the celebration weekend. There are about 25 spaces available on the coach and the cost of the visit will be £250 per person which includes two overnight stops on the journey to and from Germany plus four night’s accommodation with host families in Bad Rappenau. In order to fund these visits Llandrindod Wells and Area Twinning Association relies heavily on voluntary contributions and support. The next fundraising event is a Quiz Night at Dolau Community Hall on Friday 8 March starting at 7.30pm.
