Llandrindod Twinning Association was one of the community groups that took part in welcoming the Queen’s Baton to Llandrindod Wells on Sunday 25 May. The baton’s presence in Llandrindod was part of its two week journey across Wales as it marks the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, which starts in Glasgow on Thursday 23 July.
The weather was particularly wet but this did not dampen the members enthusiasm to display information about youth and other visits to and from the twin towns of Contrexeville, France and Bad Rappenau,Germany. The group also had a selection of garden plants which were sold to raise funds for the Association’s activities.
This year the Llandrindod will be hosting a large number of visitors from Germany. In June two delegations from Bad Rappenau will be visiting Llandrindod, one group of thirty eight adults and one group of twenty eight pupils who will be visiting the High School. In July a group of twenty Scouts from Llandrindod will be travelling to Bad Rappenau and in August a group of fifteen young people from Llandrindod will be travelling to Contrexeville.
