Skittles social evening a great success

Trish Hill, Mayor of Llandrindod, and twinning supporters who took part in a fund-raising skittles event for Llandrindod Twinning

Llandrindod Twinning Association recently held a social skittles night at the Llandindod British Legion Club with almost fifty twinners and friends taking part. The event was organised as a social and fund-raising event and included a satisfying fish and chip supper.

The first prize for the highest scores of the evening was won by Marilyn Weston and Rob Shelton with the wooden spoon going to Elsbeth Vipond and Derek Hope. The committee members had generously donated a large selection of raffle prizes and the evening raised over £280 towards the Twinning Association’s funds.

Jeff Thomas, the Chairman of Llandrindod Twinning, welcomed Llandrindod Town Mayor Trish Hill and other twinning supporters to the event and thanked them for giving generously towards Twinning Association funds. He also expressed thanks Ann Harmon and Vic Everill who had worked tirelessly all evening to make the skittles such an enjoyable event for all who took part.

He pointed out that the Association’s activities are funded almost exclusively from local voluntary contributions. He said “we rely on the efforts of people organising fundraising events in order to meet the cost of receiving visiting groups.” Next year the Association plans to host a number of visits by school and youth groups from France and Germany and the funds raised will help support these visits.

Jeff said that any one interested in taking part in Twinning activities should contact the Twinning Association Secretary on 01597 851931 or visit the Associations website where information for people wishing to organise group visits to France or Germany can be found.
